Administrative HistoryBrook, Hirst and Co, electrical engineers was established at Northgate Electrical Works, Victoria Road in the 1890s. It later became Brookhirst Switchgear Ltd. After becoming a part of Metal Industries Ltd in the 1950s it was merged with Igranic Electric of Bedford to become Brookhirst Igranic Ltd. The Northgate works closed c1968
